turning pages

My sister is having a baby this week, and as mine just turned three, I'm giving her the furniture in my nursery.

Its always been a favorite room in the house. Not because of the rug which is one of my best finds ever, or the changing table Josh and I made from a desk top, or the perfect blue/green paint color we ended up with after several coats, or the view of the rocky garden steps that are literaly a few feet away. Like you could at anytime open the window and pick some fresh peas or pansies if you had the inkling.

I love the room best because my babies slept there. And woke up there. And made me so happy there.

Josh disassembled the crib, screws, bolts, springs. It was like pushing rewind on the day he set it up.

When he was done, I laid in the empty spot and bawled my eyes out.

After a thunderstorm rolled by and I had a good cry, I asked Josh to help me carry out my hope chest to the garden......for a bonfire.

He refused without laughing.

Luke in the perfect light next to the window. I used to wake up and hurry into his room saying "good morning gorgeous!" This was one of his first complete sentences, and he started daily complimenting ME when I walked in in my pjs and morning hair with "good morning gorgeous!"

p.s. I also bawled today when the gorgeous Roger Federer lost at Wimbeldon. I think I'm just generally overreacting.

You can never consider crying over loving your children an overreaction. I used to sit on the beds of my children after they had left for college and cry and long to hear their voices. (PS -- Being emotional over tennis would make papa bear very happy)

It is always sad to give away or get rid of your baby furniture. Atleast it will be going to someone who loves you and will welcome you into her babies room to hold her child and enjoy the blessings of the small children we ALL LOVE so well. You have a right to cry!

Oh wow Alisa, this must have been so hard! I am so sorry, it is a beautiful nursery and a beautiful little boy! Not an overreaction at all! By the way you look so gorgeous in that picture of you at the rodeo, as always beautiful ALisa! We miss you guys! We need to get together!

I wouldn't go so far as to call federer gorgeous, but I may have cried when I read that he lost. he is/was on my top ten heroes list.

I always loved that room. You are so talented at making your house beautiful. I know that was hard for you.

I like the idea of training my third baby to greet me with "good morning gorgeous" - brilliant!

We miss you guys . . . we are coming in November!

Thanks for reminding me to enjoy every blessed moment in the rocker with my newborn, day or night.

Your nursery was gorgeous. And I am sure that your sister will love and cuddle her babies just like you did.

It is so nice to pass on things that have been used in love.

you are so generous--thanks for sharing. Addie wakes up every morning, points to the crib and says "Luke!"

Luke is so cute when he wakes up! Does he like his new bed?

oh. My child is going to Kindergarten this year and I know I am going to cry... More over the fact that she will NOT cry and just say "see ya!" Oh the agony!

I walked into that room yesterday, and there is a wonderful smell to the room, like several baby products all mixed together. The scent of the room brought back sweet memories of when you brought baby Luke home. I hope when you change the room the fragrance lingers.

I am sure this had to be hard I look back to my boys as baby and now 2 or on Mission so blink 1 and they are 3 blink again and they are 8 becoming a member blink again then they are 12,14, 16 then next you know they are going on a mission and then soon to be home I know all of this because I look back on my boys and how fast they have grown. When we moved to Lehi Daniel was in 4th grade ran away from school to our house and the worse thing was I was trying to still move stuff from West Joran to Lehi and his Teacher Mrs. Blackburn did not even notice he left school this was a big eye opener to me I tyred hard at that time not to leave Lehi our house was not all the way done when the kids started school in Lehi. But I can rember my kids little (ok weell a few of them not all) but now Regina is the baby and almost 17 they grow fast Love them lots while they are small because soon they two will be serving the lord on a mission
