state fair corndogs

This week I haven't been blogging because Ive been busy. My sister Sonja has been here keeping my spirits up and allowing me to get things done I wont feel like doing for the next month. Including: Christmas shopping, getting up the decorations, organizing my basement (many trips to IKEA), girls night out (loved 'Enchanted'), spending time with my boys, I even got to get away for a night with Josh. There hasn't been much time to be worried. Mostly I'm just happy.

I have been keenly aware of the fact that one of the side effects of this drug is anorexia, due to a metallic taste in your mouth. Everyone Ive heard of that did interferon for melanoma had this. Am I sad to loose weight? Of course not. But I think by genetics I'm mildly obsessed with (and take great pleasure in) good food.

So naturally I took a break from my cancer diet this week and opened my mouth to anything that sounded good. If I could have had everything I wanted it would have included:

parmesan chicken from buca di beppo
phoenix chicken from chin wa
grandma washburns rolls
dads baked beans
uncle robs garlic mashed potatoes
lettuce wraps from pf changs
anything Jeanette Darais makes
chocolate cake from gurus
chicken calzonetto from macaroni grill

Wow, maybe this is the saddest post Ive had to write. What would you eat if you were about to hate food for a year? (thanks for the post idea Jennie!)

The fun starts tomorrow!

Alisa,
I was thinking about you today while I was studying for my Sunday School class.(I find myself thinking about you everyday). I read this in 3 John 2 - Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. For I rejoiced greatly. . . of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.
I love your blog. It thrills me when I read of your faith and your gratitude. Like JOhn, I pray your health will prosper as your soul is prospering. I know many read your entries and all who read must be lifted and have a greater feeling for what matters in this life. I love you Alisa. The Thatchers are praying for you.

Love,
Aunt Kathy

Alisa,
Phoenix chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, and good Italian food all have lots and lots of flavor, I think they will do the trick to over-power the metalic taste. Good luck with everything, you will continue to be in our prayers.
Love, The Perez Family.

Orange chicken from the Lux Cafe in Chicago. Fair corndogs for sure. Chicken nuggets, white sauces, cheesecake, doritos. Good luck with everything!

My sister's chocolate chip cookies...lots of them. Olive Garden Black Tie Mousse Cake. Curly Fries from Arby's.
I read a journal entry from college that said all I wanted when I got married was to live next door to you and Josh. Praying for you.

I can totally understand why Jill said she would want to live next door to you (and you probably both agreed to get as far away from me as possible!). LOVE LOVE LOVE the chicken calzonetto from Macaroni! Last time I went they didn't have it anymore!!! Hope you survived your first day! Much love.

Yeah... you've seen my "freshly out of the first trimester" food list. I still am loving food. I'm hoping that your upcoming hate for food won't be as bad for you, as all the men in the world who have had that metallic taste in their mouth. At least you've had morning sickness to make you loathe food, so it shouldn't be a COMPLETELY foreign experience.

I've been thinking about you all day, wondering how your tx went today. I'll talk to you before Thursday, I hope you know I love you.
