random things....

Like the fact that Josh, James, and Sam took a ride in a hot air balloon this morning. Grandma Vicki bought the ride at our PTA carnival. I wasn't too nervous until they were way up there and the wife of the balloonist said, "So, are you going follow them to pick them up?" I guess it makes sense, but I didn't realize that you don't steer them, they just kind of go where the wind takes them, and land when they are close to an open field. Who knew? Everyone? I was sad I cant move around very well to take sweet pictures. It seems like a very photogenic event and I couldn't get creative.

His wife also was saying that it feels like your flying. She said if her husband is trying to sell one and the customer has had flying dreams they almost always get the sale. Ive talked about this with my mom and we totally think we know how to fly because it is such a real feeling in our dreams. Is this normal or are we witches?

I am enjoying a clean house today thanks to a random act of kindness. My brothers' wifes' brothers' wife Traci owns a housekeeping business and she offered her services for a while. So Im enjoying my CLEAN house. Thanks Traci!!

I want your opinion on the Twilight series. Im sure to offend tons because so many people have recommended these books to me. It started out all fun, but Ive been in the middle of the second one for a month and haven't seen Edward and I just don't know if I want to finish. Bella is not a heroine by any stretch of the imagination, and there is no hero, no one to like. I don't know, what do you think, is it worth finishing?

I caught the end of Oprah yesterday (I'm not recommending her, but Ive had my share of Ah-ha moments). It was on conversations about death-talking to terminally ill people. I wish I would have seen it all, but she quoted Da Vinci "As a well spent day brings happy sleep, so a life well spent brings happy death." I thought that was a nice way of putting it.

So I just read over my blog. Its the Lortab talking. Nothing is coherent, which is why I didn't dare write yesterday. I don't need it during the day anymore, but when I'm sore at night I likey my Lortab.

Alisa--I am up late trying to finish a nasty legal brief, but I thought I'd check out a couple blogs as a diversion. Interestingly, both yours and another friend's mentioned that Oprah session. She included this link http://www2.oprah.com/health/oz/oz_20071022_350_106.jhtml?promocode=HP13 which may be of interest to you. I don't know which part of the show that you saw.

Anyway, I thought maybe it was providential that I was up at 1 am and checked both of these blogs. (Or perhaps, I am just trying to justify the fact that I am procrastinating finishing my work.)

As always, your words are uplifting. We are looking forward to seeing continued great news about your status.

Watched the whole Oprah and it was actually very good. There is a special on TLC tonight (Wednesday) called "Crazy Sexy Cancer" about a woman who is dying from cancer and decided to make a documentary of her experience. She was on Oprah talking about it, and it made me realize that we all need to live each day to the fullest. Anyway, on the Twilight series...I'm with you on Bella being a bit wimpy, however, I did read all three and don't worry, Edward will be back you'll be in love again in book three. I, on the other hand, liked the best friend guy. Maybe you could add him to your crush list.

Hang in there with the second book, Alisa. You'll see Edward soon- (the end of the the book gets much more interesting) and the third book is so much better than the second one. I agree that Bella isn't much of a heroine- I have my theories that she must be some kind of nonhuman (maybe she is a witch!) to be able to attract Edward in the first place, when she really isn't that great. I do have one big problem with the storyline, but I won't mention it since you aren't done. I still think that they are fun to read- Phil teased me relentlessly throughout my reading of them (I don't usually spend too much time reading about vampires and werewolves).
I only saw the first part of Oprah on Monday- but I was very impressed with the first guest. Her name is Kris Carr and she made a documentary called "Crazy Sexy Cancer." It might be worth checking out. She was very inspirational, and it is her personal experience about how she changed her focus to concentrate on living life to its fullest.

I love blogs written while on Lortab! It is a fun time! You are great! Did you get the book yet? If not, let me know.

Everyone, witches, and never read them. That balloon ride sure looks like it was fun. Oh, and keep on the lortab because your blog has been great so far--we could all have a bit more randomness.

Our ward bookclub just discussed Twilight last night. It was a very interesting discussion, most of us really liked the book/series, but not everyone did. We all agreed that Bella drives you crazy, but that Edward draws you in. I think it is definitely worth finishing, New Moon has some interesting developments in it.

Anyway, I love reading your blog everyday. I know you have been an inspiration to many. We love you!

I am almost finished with Twilight, and I must say I am dissapointed. I am incredulous that these books are so popular. I don't think there is too much redeeming in the books--especially not the characters, and the writing isn't that great. The plot is sort of interesting, but even that drags at times. I wouldn't want my teenage daughter reading them.

Alisa, I felt the same way about the 2nd book. I realized Edward was the reason I was reading it the series in the first place during the time he wasn't around in the 2nd book! Rod asked me how I liked it about half way through and I told him I was annoyed. However, I kept reading and am glad I did. Keep going.

I also watched that particular Oprah show. I think you have already done what they were trying to get all of us to do (live life to the fullest) before your got your diagnosis. (Taking your kids to the river and letting them throw rocks, blowing dandelions. Not looking back with regrets.) You are a great example to all of us.

I don't know if it's Utah or what, but I am Oprah-less, Twilight-less, and TLC-less. I just want Alisa to know that I am reading her blogs and I love them!

I just read your Blog after finally getting the right address. I really think you should write a book, you are so much fun. I appreciate you taking the time to share the insights into your life. You are still the same wonderful young Beehive I remember (That ages one of us!) We know for sure that miracles do happen, we have seen them and know that you will be another. It's no fun, but I know you can beat it! Especially with your great attitude. We love you and remember you are always in our prayers, along with everyone elses. Love ya.

alisa-when I read the second book I literally threw it across the room. You are right about bella, she is kinda of a whiner and I really don't like that. However both cami and I felt like the 3rd book is the best, the best story, writing, etc. So stick with it.

Hey Alisa,

Sorry it has taken me a few days to respond to your previous post....I was too busy reading the 3rd book too. I was completely obsessed. It is ridiculous that I would waste so much time, but it was a fun diversion.

Anyway, watching James help Sam was the cutest ever. It was the highlight of the entire primary block. I think that was the only thing that went right during the 2 hours...combining Junior & Senior was a HUGE mistake.

Do NOT worry about the throw up. I just felt so badly for James. Besides, I heard that it was hilarious to watch Bro. Wilden help me clean it up...and we badly needed comic relief with all the tired children.

Also, just a quick note: I saw you driving away from the school on Tuesday (to find your flying children) and I was taken back by how beautiful you looked. I couldn't believe that right after surgery you could look that great.

Thanks so much for the posts, we love your updates and your family :)

Hi Alisa! I try to steer clear of Oprah, but I have read the Twilight books. Personally, I enjoyed the 2nd one because I sort of like Jacob better than Edward. We live a couple hours from Forks, and during the summer my mom, sister, and I went for a visit. Forks is exactly as described, and La Push is amazing! I definately have a soft spot for Jacob. Maybe they'll be more interesting while you're on drugs!

I had no idea you had to go pick up your flying family members when they take off in a hot air balloon. I guess I had never thought about it...

Keep reading. Let me just say that Edward gets better and better. Bella bugs more and more.
I like the Da Vinci quote.
